Episode 91

The Devastating Reality of Spiritual Grooming: One Woman’s Story

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon sit down with Autumn (not her real name) as she tells us a disturbing story of spiritual grooming and manipulation in her marriage to a faithful Mormon.

As a convert to the church and a young wife, Autumn experienced the kind of grooming we have heard about recently in the Tim Ballard lawsuit. When you give up your power to a person in authority over you and an institution,

you can lose all sense of self and often reason.

Autumn’s story is very disturbing and many will probably find it very triggering. But it’s an important story to tell in order to shine a spotlight on this type of grooming behavior that happens everyday. And often goes in noticed unless you experience it yourself.

We really appreciate Autumn’s vulnerability and openness as she discusses this very difficult topic. She’s a wonderful person!
