The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma

This Mormonish podcast features our The Good Book Club discussion of The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D. Doctor Van Der Kolk is a leading expert on trauma and in his book The Body Keeps the Score he uses recent scientific advancements to show how trauma literally reshapes our body and brain which can often keep us from experiencing pleasure, engagement, self control and trust. The book explores innovative treatments from neuro-feedback and meditation to sports, drama and yoga that offer new paths to recovery by activating the brain's natural healing powers. We learned so much from this book and our discussion was at times difficult but also healing and wonderful. We are sure that you will find something that resonates with you in this discussion too. This Good Book Club meeting was originally held on February 12th, 2023.
